History of the Communicator of the Year

The “Communicator of the Year” award, co-sponsored by the International Association of Business Communicators (Louisville chapter) and the Public Relations Society of America (Bluegrass Chapter) for the annual Landmarks of Excellence awards program, was first established in 1992. This award recognizes a Louisville Metro area individual whose demonstrated communications skills over an extended period of time have had a substantially positive influence on the community and/or significantly raised awareness of an issue.

The honoree must:

Work in a field other than communications or public relations.

Work in the Louisville Metro area.

Have a demonstrated ability to communicate successfully by building understanding and positive relationships over an extended period of time.

Have had a positive influence on the community and/or significantly raised awareness of an issue.

Demonstrated a strong code of ethics and sound communications objectives and philosophy.
